2 Reasons WHY-Modern Learners are OVERLOADED with Too Much CONTENT

Dear HR, Training and L&D teams,

2 Reasons WHY Modern Learners - Are Overloaded with too much Content

It was a good HARI RAYA festival for us all at TLMM.  With a good break = great learning.
I wish to share with you 2 reasons on Why Modern Learners (your participants) are feeling overloaded when you have too much content being designed in a
1 day, 2 days or even, 3 days program:

1.       Learners these days are becoming too analytical by nature
a.       Assuming you are now shopping online for kitchenware, you have so many options in a 10 minutes search.  This makes your skills of sourcing and focusing on what you really need to be perfect.  Hence looking back at a classroom setting, when we ‘force content’ to participants and ensuring we want to teach them all aspects under a topic, we may not get their focus. Simply because it’s not what they are focusing on, hence this will make them even more confused on the Priority Take Away they are supposed to implement immediately
                                                              i.      Solution:
1.       Once retrieving your Training Analysis, Do not cramp all into a 1 day, 2 days or 3 days. Find out the Priority Take Away needed, and build the content, case studies, tool around that.
2.       Breakout the Objectives over different Learning Solutions: This can be a workshop, a tutorial video, and even a talk too.

2.       Learners these days are focused to ‘WIIFM (What’s In It For Me)’
a.       As mentioned, most learners are analytical built based on how the environment has be co-created for it.  Hence when we place in too much content, our learners will get confused as this does not match their End Goals – They need to know how this can help solve their No. 1 problem.
                                                               i.      Solution:
1.       L&D, Training and HR teams need to market this carefully to their employees when driving in the registered participants.
2.       Choose the right training title that can help participants know ‘why they need to register for your program’.
