1. Provide information aboe the company's organisation structure, values, priorities
2. Identify key stakeholders within the organisation. . Schedule orientation meetings
3. Identify a willing 'buddy' or 'mentor' who will take the new employee to lunch, show him around an be a resource of learning the unwritten rules and customers of the work group and organisation
4. Set clear expectations of job responsibilities, deadlines and standards.
5. Determine if any training is needed and if so, schedule it. Follow up to determine how the employee applies the new knowledge
6. Regularly observe your employee's work and provide specific feedback. Recognise milestones and progress along the learning curve
7. Celebrate success with the employee and identify new objectives as his confidence and competence increase
