Hi all,
I am currently reading a great book written by my friend Mel Liow. He is an amazing coach whom I knew 4 years back. His book titled Bringing Out Their Best is a wonderful write up about great ideas and tools for any HR/Training Manager. In his book there is a section on how to ask the right questions for employees having challenges (performance/individually etc). Here are the questions.
Discussion about strength
How is your(individually) department performing?
What is going well?
What are the strengths?
What are you particularly proud off?
What have been your recent achievements?
Discussion over concerns or issues
Where are you experiencing challenges?
What areas are diverting your attention unnecessarily?
What weaknesses are you facing in your department now?
Discussion over downsides
What might be the potential downsides if these concerns are not overcome?
What are the consequences if nothing happens or changes?
What might be the overall impact?
What priority is this for you?
How high priority is this for you?
Discussion over upsides, benefits that address the need
What would be the advantages of resolving these issues?
How would you feel to achieve what you want in this areas? And what would it look like?
If I would be able to make some recommendations, would you be interested to look at my proposal?
