Over the years of being a preffered training broker to many organisations, we have met numerous training managers who often hop jobs. Hence when the new Training Manger comes by, he often makes mistakes by imposing to many new trainings and learning deliverables that in the end does not make an impact on the organisations learning outcome. Here are a 6 points to consider during the first 90 days as a Training Manager in your company.
1. Get an agreement on whats achievable from Top Down Management
Ensure that the parameters of your training plans are made very clear from top down.
2. Track your employees daily training activities in the past.
You can do this either via their on job training activities or their buddy training activities. If there are positive outcomes on this areas, you can either maintain this ways of training or improve this further.
3. Spend time with your new training executives and employees that often likes to go for trainings
If you are working with a new team, try to break ice with them. Try to fit in before standing out.
4. Use EQ
If you are a high achiever, use your EQ - get to know who is calling the shots in your new team. Make that person the centre of influence.
5. Manage your time well
Your first few months carries the time pressure and present you with an intense learning curve. Establish your priorities right.
6. Be approachable
Make an effor to boost your character and ensuring your team members knows who they can turn to.
