What Does a Good Trainer Look Like?

Our matchmaking services goes beyond just qualification and experiences. Having seen numerous trainers train in workshops, having to meet them personally at their offices and having to hear them on the phone and communicating on emails, I have personally managed to improve my skills in identifying what makes a good trainer.
So my question to you is: What does a good trainer look like other than just qualification and experiences that they have?
Here are some of my thoughts which I think might be useful to you someday.
1.Outlook apperance ? The ideal trainer you are seeking needs to give you that wow factor when he first meets you for an initial discussion. Outlook apperance counts!  His or her hair/ clothes/ posture and confidence level of walking needs to be excellent.
2. Tonality of Voice ? The ideal trainer you are seeking needs to have the right tone of voice. For example, if you are seeking an InHouse training for Presentation Skills and hence you meet a trainer who says he can do this but when he presents to you, first thing that happens is his voice is not laud enough and not convincing in his tonality.  Therefore why should you engage him after all on Presentation Skills when he cannot even present well to you?
3. Adapt well to Technology ? The world is moving rapidly and we all need to relearn things we dont even want to know.  For example, if you are seeking an InHouse training for Excel and hence you meet a trainer who says he can do this but when he presents to you, he just could not operate the LCD projector and does not know how to handle the equipment.  Therefore why should you engage him after all on Excel training when he cannot even handle a projector?  I hope you are getting the picture.  In other words, you gotta find a trainer who walks his talk!.
4. Classroom Methodologies ? We all agree that every training is unique in its own way. However I am sure you would not like to see or hear that your staff who you have signed for a training, enjoying an afternoon nap during the course of the workshop going on.  Therefore the trainer  needs the ability to adapt training materials to be extremely visual, allowing plenty of opportunities for participants to interact using online tools, such as the whiteboard, polling and application sharing.
The trainer needs to be a very strong facilitator, with the ability to call on participants and get them involved, combined with active listening skills and the use of a variety of questioning techniques. Sometimes the trainer will inject some humour into the workshop to create a more relaxed, yet interactive forum for participants.
5. Being Prepared - This means not only preparing the materials but ensuring there will be no technical hiccoughs. All connections need to be tested a day before the training.
Do let me know if this tips works well with you.  Until then,
Regards,
Cheryl Lourdes
